The Carolina Christian Varsity Centurions won a nail biter against Morris Brown College on Wednesday night. From the beginning of the game the Centurions took a commanding lead. Freshmen forward Elijah Greer with 24 points for the game, helped the Centurions stay in command leading to half-time.
The second half began with Morris College making a 12 point run to bring the score even. Sophomore guard Edward Stoneham, then took control of the team and became a living highlight reel scoring a season high 38 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal which sealed the game with a 101-95 win in double overtime.
Stoneham was voted the NSAC (New Southern Athletic Conference) player of the week with a 3.5 GPA. "He is the engineer and energy of the squad" says Coach Tee Wooten.
The defensive player of the game was freshman guard Robert Murdock who kept the Centurions in the game with 10 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assist, and 2 steals. The Centurions now prepare to meet the University of Virginia Lynchburg at their next home game.
